The German hydrogen fuel cell producer Proton Motor Fuel Cell has received an order for a stand-alone fuel cell system based on its 50kW container solution for deployment in Mallorca, Spain. Set to be deployed at a hotel in Palma de Mallorca, as part of the "Green Hysland" project, the HyShelter® system ordered by a Spanish gas related energy and infrastructure supplier is expected to be delivered in the first half of 2024.

Green Hysland for hydrogen ecosystem
The Green Hysland project aims to establish a hydrogen ecosystem in Mallorca, turning the island into Europe`s first H2 hub in Southern Europe. This will be achieved by producing green hydrogen from solar energy and delivering it to the end users, such as the island`s tourism, transport, industry and energy sectors, including gas grid injection for green heat and power local end-use.

First Southern European flagship project
Proton Motor CEO Dr. Faiz Nahab made the statement on the new order that this is the first order for Proton Motor from Spain and therefore represents a further expansion in the company`s market footprint. In February 2011, the launch of the Green Hysland initiative was announced. It is in line with the new EU hydrogen strategy and will be the first Southern European flagship project that creates an integrated "green hydrogen ecosystem" in the Balearic Islands.
